For Mexico, the dialogue and collaboration with regional and international organizations strengthens its actions and policies to guarantee the promotion and protection of human rights.

In 2001, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights established an office in Mexico (OHCHR-Mexico).

Mexico promotes specific human rights topics in key UN summits and conferences, such as:

Inter-American Human Rights System

  1. Duplication of the budget allocated to the Inter-American organs over a period of three years, with incremental budgetary allocations of 33% per year, based on the budget approved in 2017, beginning in 2018.
  2. Fund increases of 26% and 49% based on the authorized budget for 2017 for the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) and the Inter-American Children's Institute (IIN) respectively, in order to support their activities in accordance to their strategic plans.
  3. Additional funding for development programs.
