Copresidency of the EU-CELAC Coordination and Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs (MCCMD)
By election of the CELAC member states, Mexico, through the Mission of Mexico to the European Union, co-chairs the CELAC-EU Mechanism for Cooperation and Coordination on Drug Matters (MCCMD) for the period 2019-2021.
During the Co-presidency of the MCCMD, Mexico seeks to promote and intensify the political dialogue between both regions so that bi-regional cooperation to face the world drugs problem is based on the principle of common and shared responsibility and results in public policies based on evidence and with a comprehensive and balanced approach.
Similarly, the result of this political dialogue guides the work of the Cooperation Program for Latin America, the Caribbean (CELAC) and the European Union (EU) on Drug Policies (COPOLAD), a program funded by the European Commission and managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP). During the Mexican co-presidency phase three of COPOLAD will be installed.
