Copresidency of the EU-CELAC Coordination and Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs (MCCMD)

By election of the CELAC member states, Mexico, through the Mission of Mexico to the European Union, has co-chaired the CELAC-EU Mechanism for Cooperation and Coordination on Drug Matters (MCCMD) for the period 2019-2021.

During its Co-presidency of the MCCMD, Mexico has sought to promote and intensify the political dialogue between both regions so that bi-regional cooperation to face the world drugs problem is based on the principle of common and shared responsibility and results in public policies based on evidence and with a comprehensive and balanced approach.

This political dialogue guides the work of the Cooperation Program for Latin America, the Caribbean (CELAC) and the European Union (EU) on Drug Policies (COPOLAD), a program funded by the European Commission and managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP). During the Mexican co-presidency phase three of COPOLAD will be installed.
